Stagnancy~

Time feels motionless, issues stagnant, and goals float in my mind lacking force and vitality... My high hopes for this year, so gracefully crushed, have managed to set me back on so many different levels. I'm trying hard to see it as a challenge for growth, to embrace the pain and turn it into a higher awareness... After all, without pain how do we truly know joy and love? It's so easy for our everyday life to stand still around us, each day the same routine of work, money, stress, and problems. But how does one free a stagnant mind, enable that positive energy to flow again? For tomorrow I wish a new beginning, a chance for change, a shift in dynamics, a sudden inspiration, and a glimpse of beauty...

Ebb and flow~

Often used figuratively, this term seems fitting in the way our lives flow in and out of synchronicity. Just when one feels disconnected from the heart, something random comes along to change that chaotic thought process. A chance encounter with a stranger that sees something in your eye, an offering of kind words that heal your soul, or simply just a smile at the right time. And when you need it the most, it seems to be there before you, if you simply are able to embrace it. One must be open to these opportunities, and become part of a cosmic unconsciousness...

Paris Plage ~Quirky city beach...

Paris Plage, the "Faux" beach set up on the banks of the Seine River that winds through the French capital, opened Thursday for the fourth season. A quirky project that has since spawned copycat beaches in cities across Europe and as far away as Tokyo. The Paris Plage now counts 280 beach chairs, 480 chairs, 225 beach umbrellas, countless beach mats, cafes, ice cream stands, sandboxes, a wading pool for children, along with volleyball, samba lessons, a host of musical events and even a riverside version of outdoor films. Fantastique!!

7 Wonders...

On 7-7-7 the results are in for a global competition of the "7 Wonders of the world!" The campaign began in 1999 by Swiss adventurer Bernard Weber, with almost 200 nominations coming in from around the world. Weber felt it was time to bring the world together in a common pride of global culture... And the winners are... 1~Chichén Itzá, Mexico 2~Christ Redeemer, Brazil 3~The Great Wall, China 4~Machu Picchu, Peru 5~Petra, Jordan 6~The Roman Colloseum, Italy 7~The Taj Mahal, India... One of my favorites~

Feisty...

I was recently fortunate enough to see Feist at the Wiltern theatre in LA on Friday... Such an amazing show filled with dreamy visuals and Feist at her finest!! She reminds me of a lovely mix of Bjork and Chan Marshall of Catpower... Feist uses her throaty, jazzy, sweet voice to seduce the crowd. She is quite brilliant~ A genuine female vocal talent that can move you, seduce you, make you want to dance and join in a sing- along... And best of all, she is hot in a red number, playing guitar in heels~

The city of lights...

Joining other European cities such as Amsterdam~ Paris wants to make thousands of bikes available by this summer for free to commuters, strollers and tourists — in part to help cut down on pollution. Over 20,000 bikes should be available by the end of the year...

Clips from award-winning cinema has some fuming on EU's new channel on YouYube!! But many argue that "the European Union is not a bible belt, we believe in freedom of expression and artistic creativity!" The sex-scene video is one of four made for screening in European cinemas to advertise an EU fund that helps distribute successful films made in one EU state to others... European cinema or soft porn???

Art~ Ask for more...

The arts in our children's education has proven to be more than just fun activities. The arts teach tolerance and opens minds. The arts boast self-confidence, and can improve overall academic performance. The arts provide a creative outlet, and alternatives to delinquency. The arts inspire dreams and a positive attitude in general. But the sad truth is that we have allowed the arts to virtually disappear from our children's academic programs! I came across a wonderful website that campaigns for the return of the arts in schools, and how we can help... My amazing son is a perfect example of the effect the arts can have on a child. Not only has he become a gifted musician and a straight A student, but I believe it has shaped him into a well-rounded, responsible young man for whom I am very proud!! He is an inspiration... Baring it all...

On June 8th and 9th 2007, cyclists around the world participated in the fourth annual worldwide naked protest against oil dependency. On all the rides, full nudity was permitted by the police. There were no arrests... The ride highlights the simplicity of the bicycle, the vulnerability of riders in traffic, and celebrates the power and individuality of our bodies. With 2007 being the year with the most riders taking part, does this mean people are becoming more aware of environmental issues? Or are they just happy to ride naked legally? You decide!

Only in Paris...

Scuba divers pose for the media after swimming in a tank of water that was installed under the Eiffel Tower as part of an event to jointly promote tourism, ocean resource preservation, and the sport of scuba diving in Paris May 31, 2007. This was not the first time the Eiffel Tower has become a sporting venue. Three winters ago, an ice-skating rink was installed on the lower of its three observation decks to draw Parisians to the monument that mostly attracts tourists. I simply adore the French...

Edith Piaf...

After much anticipation... I saw the movie "La Vie en Rose!" Based on the life of Edith Piaf, France's most beloved singer... The film was done with rather chaotic clips of flashbacks dating back to her tragic childhood. Abandoned by her parents and raised in a brothel, she was discovered singing on the streets for money... Slowly she became well known while performing in cabarets around Paris, and finally rose to worldwide fame... But nothing came easy for Edith, she was blind as a child, lost her child at 16, and later the love of her life in a plane crash. She was stricken with extreme arthritis, and became addicted to morphine, which caused her to prematurely age 20 years, and eventually contributed to her death. The performance of Marion Cotillard as the French chanteuse was chilling! She embodies Edith in every imaginable way, charming, waif-like, doe-eyed, rather rough and often cruel... Cotillard makes us feel the humanity inside Edith's frail existance, and turns this film into a special event~ Je l'adore!!

Paris~ JeT'aime...

Just saw the film Paris, Je T'aime (Paris, I love you) tonight... I've been waiting a long time for it's release... Perfect timing, since I have been pining away for my love (Paris) ever since my return 4 weeks ago. The film consists of 18 short films about 18 diffferent areas of Paris by 18 directors. It is all about old love, new love, and love for Paris itself! No other city can steal a piece of your heart like Paris... I still remember the moment when I fell in love with Paris, and when she fell for me!!
